(ConservativeInsider.org) – In a recent Fox Business interview, former President Donald Trump expressed his concerns about the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI), deeming it “very dangerous” and asserting that it has “no real solution.” This comes after a series of unsettling robocalls in New Hampshire encouraging voters to skip the primary.
Throughout the interview, Trump not only cautioned against the perils of a digital central bank currency but also directed his strongest criticism towards AI, labeling it as “so scary” and advocating for action to address its potential dangers.
A consistent critic of AI, Trump had previously voiced worries about its capacity to manipulate voices, images, and videos of political candidates. He recounted a recent incident in which AI was employed to create a deceptive video that falsely portrayed him endorsing a product. Emphasizing the challenge of distinguishing genuine content from AI-manipulated versions, he admitted being unable to discern the difference.
This wasn’t the first time Trump had criticized AI. In response to speculative headlines and online rumors regarding red marks on his hands in recent photos, he humorously remarked, “Maybe it’s AI,” implying its potential involvement in image manipulation.
The conversation took a serious turn with reports of a digitally generated robocall using President Joe Biden’s voice, advising people not to vote in New Hampshire’s primary. The state’s attorney general flagged the call as an illegal attempt to suppress voting. The Biden-like voice urged listeners to save their votes for the November elections and claimed the primary only benefited Republicans.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre debunked the deepfake robocall, categorizing it as “fake” and confirming the president did not record it. Biden’s campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, stated they were deliberating on further actions. Rep. Dean Phillips’ campaign, challenging Biden in the Democratic primary, denied involvement and learned about it from a reporter.
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) took decisive action as Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel announced the commission’s move to criminalize unsolicited robocalls that use AI-generated voices.
Recognizing the confusion caused by these scams, Rosenworcel emphasized the need to classify AI-generated voice cloning and images as illegal under existing law. She noted the support of over two dozen state attorneys general for regulations on AI-generated robocalls.
