(ConservativeInsider.org) – It seems that it was not that long ago that the Democrat President John F Kennedy gave his famous speech saying: “Ask not what your country can do for you, rather ask what you can do for your country.” Fast forward sixty-two years, however, and the sentiments expressed by senior Democrat politicians today are completely different. Some say that the latest speech by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would have John F Kennedy spinning in his grave.
Ocasio-Cortez was speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives, discussing the recent crisis over the debt ceiling. Rather than say: “ask what you can do for your country”, she inquired “when was the last time you heard someone say that their Social Security checks were too high or that teachers were getting too much money? When was the last time you heard someone say that the government is doing too much for them?”
The implication here is that the government should be expected to pay for everything that the voters want. Bearing in mind that the only money that the government can actually spend comes from voters in the first place (unless one includes the thirty-one trillion dollars of unfunded national debt) it would be more responsible to make voters less dependent on the government, not more. But of course, that would interfere with the Democrats’ goal of bribing the citizenry into voting Democrat in perpetuity.
Although the remarks made by Ocasio-Cortez illuminate just how far the Democrats have fallen in the past sixty-two years, one should not be terribly surprised given that they are no longer trying to hide their moral and ethical bankruptcy in almost every aspect of government policy. For example, the debt ceiling crisis is framed by the Democrats as being entirely the fault of Republicans, as are the billions profligately spent on military equipment and written off student loans by Democrats.
Perhaps Ocasio-Cortez should reflect on the words of JFK before her next speech.
