Biden Administration Sued by Trump Appointee

( – The transfer of power from one administration to the next is often rocky as positions are ended and new appointees come into the scene. But, one federal official is questioning his potentially illegal termination by suing the Biden administration.

On Wednesday, February 3, Roger Severino, a prior Health and Human Services (HHS) official who was appointed to the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS) by then-President Donald Trump, announced he’s suing Joe Biden over his termination.

In July of 2020, Severino was initially appointed by Trump and then reappointed in January 2021. His term was supposed to last three years. On Tuesday, he allegedly received an email from the deputy director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office threatening to terminate him if he did not resign.

Reporter Zoe Tillman shared the lawsuit on Twitter:

Severino said in a statement that Biden’s decision to remove ACUS officials before they finish their term was “nothing more than cynical manipulation.” As this lawsuit weaves its way through our judicial system, we must trust that the truth will reign, and any illegal actions, no matter who took them, are brought to light.
