(ConservativeInsider.org) – The US House of Representatives was once home to civil discussions where lawmakers ensured debates stuck to politics rather than personal attacks. Rules have been in place for decades to guard against harmful rhetoric, but Democrats temporarily changed them this week to make sure they could insult President Donald Trump during his impeachment process.
On Tuesday, January 12, Democrats passed a temporary rule change declaring that the current House rules prohibiting personal attacks on the President “shall not apply” during the debate over Trump’s impeachment.
This allowed Democrats like Representative Cori Bush (D-MO) to personally attack President Trump without rebuke. But, changing rules to meet the needs of Democrats is nothing new for the Left. House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) pointed out how they bent Congressional rules back in May:
🚨 Pelosi Power Grab 🚨
Dems just broke 200 years of history & changed House rules to allow proxy voting.
Now they can turn their voting cards over to Pelosi & sit at home collecting their paychecks while she unilaterally passes legislation with just 20 Members present.

Rather than use the rules and decorum that have kept the halls of Congress focused on the betterment of America, Democrats have lowered the bar to allow personal insults and petty remarks. Now more than ever, we must rise above this name-calling in order to focus on the healing that America needs right now.
