(ConservativeInsider.org) – Although former President Donald Trump is the only person to make an official bid for the White House in 2024, there are plenty of other likely candidates waiting for the right time to announce. While Americans anticipate the campaigns revving up, pollsters are hard at work trying to see which candidate would be best at rallying their party’s vote. One such survey shows Trump with a double-digit lead.
From December 6 to 8, NPR, PBS NewsHour, and Marist Poll communicated with 1,189 registered voters about various political issues, from their approval of President Joe Biden to who they’d like to see next in the White House. Among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, 45% of voters want to see Donald Trump as the next GOP nominee. He was 12 percentage points ahead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Former Vice President Mike Pence fell behind with a meager 8%.

Here are some other interesting results from the poll of Republican and Republican-leaning independents regarding their preferences for 2024:
- 64% of households with children under 18 at home want to see Trump win the nomination.
- 58% of survey respondents under 45 felt the same way of those.
- 8% more small city/suburban women prefer Trump over DeSantis.
While this poll simply shows a snapshot in time with the election nearly two years away, it is an important marker showing that the former president still has plenty of supporters across a variety of demographics.
