Florida Teacher Claims Parents Have No Rights in Schools

(ConservativeInsider.org) – In the wake of the abolition of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in higher education by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, there have been complaints from teachers that parental rights are being trampled on by schools – which seems like a strange interpretation of the legislation that has been passed specifically to restore the rights of parents who want to have a traditional education for their children.

In this instance, a teacher who is currently under investigation by the Florida Department of Education for showing an LGBTQIA+ themed film to ten-year-olds complained that parents don’t have any rights when their child is in public school.

Jenna Barbee, a teacher in Hernando County (in the Florida School District) is currently being investigated by the DeSantis administration after she showed the film “Strange World” in her classroom. The film features a gay character who has a crush on another man.

Barbee, of course, is not alone when it comes to displaying inappropriate material to impressionable schoolchildren. She is only one of many teachers who feel that it is their duty to embrace “woke” ideology and to push the radical transgender activist agenda down the throats of young students.

However, her comments about parental rights being trampled on by schools presuppose that parents actually want this sort of inappropriate material to be available to schoolchildren who are not yet of an age to process such things.

The legislation passed by DeSantis is specifically designed to address the worrying trend of political correctness that has been allowed to rampage unchecked through the American education system. Consequently, the legislation has been focused on reversing and abolishing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

However, as Governor DeSantis noted, the end result of such policies has been anything but diverse, equitable and inclusive. He remarked that it would be better to call the initiatives “Discrimination, Exclusion and Indoctrination” and said that most parents would agree that they have no place in the education system.
