Former Florida Rep Leaves Sunshine State Over DeSantis’ Policies

( – Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis (R) has signed a bill into law which bans (among other things) the promotion of gender ideology in higher education. Institutions such as universities and high schools are now forbidden to teach gender ideology and critical race theory (CRT) as part of a complete ban on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.

Governor DeSantis said that the outcomes of such initiatives resulted in Discrimination, Exclusion, and Indoctrination rather than Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and as a result left-wing organizations have been predictably vocal in denouncing DeSantis as a racist, fascist and bigot who is trampling democracy into the ground in Florida.

Despite the fact that most parents of school-age children think that DeSantis is a national hero for standing up to the woke Marxist bullies of the far-left, a former member of the Republican party, Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla) has stated that he is thinking of leaving Florida because of Governor DeSantis’ policies.

He said that the legislation passed by DeSantis is not only “an attack on migrants, the LGBTQIA+ community and African-Americans” but also discourages “diversity of thought” and an appreciation of diverse cultures. He opined that DeSantis was even more dangerous than Donald Trump, and should he decide to stand as a presidential candidate in 2024, he would go even further in “knee-capping democracy”.

Rep. Jolly appears not to fully appreciate that for democracy to flourish, free speech and freedom of thought are essential, and these are not the same things as “diversity of thought”.

“Diversity of thought” means that espousing the views of a traditional conservative Christian upbringing over the radical ideologies beloved of the Transgender mafia, or of Critical Race Theory (CRT), so close to the hearts of Black Lives Matter activists, is not only frowned upon but may result in the loss of one’s home or livelihood.

True democracy encompasses the freedom to mock, ridicule, and to publicly disagree with radical left-wing narratives, and the sooner we all start doing it, the better.
