GOP Sends “Doormats” As Gifts to 7 Top Democrats in Act of Symbolism

GOP Sends

( – When House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) first introduced President Joe Biden’s massive infrastructure spending bill to the House, the GOP adamantly spoke out against it. A few Democrats even joined in. Those Left-leaning representatives vowed to block the $3.5-trillion package until a smaller, $1.2-trillion bill passed in the Senate. However, most of them caved to Pelosi’s pressure after she merely promised a future vote on the bipartisan bill. This made it quite easy for the GOP to mock the Democrats’ lack of backbone.

On Monday, September 20, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) announced it sent seven doormats to the following Democratic lawmakers’ district offices:

  • Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX)
  • Jim Costa (D-CA)
  • Henry Cuellar (D-TX)
  • Carolyn Bourdeaux (D-GA)
  • Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ)
  • Kurt Schrader (D-OR)
  • Jared Golden (D-ME)

This “gift,” a mere $17.99 on Amazon, sent a clear, disapproving message from Republicans that these lawmakers allowed Nancy Pelosi to “walk all over them.” NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer emphasized that voters will hold Democrats who supported Pelosi’s “reckless $3.5 trillion tax and spending spree accountable” for the decision in the 2022 midterms.

The NRCC highlighted its stance on the topic on Twitter:

While many Democrats caved to Pelosi’s pressure, some, including Senators Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), remained firm that the proposal is too expensive. Hopefully, these stalwart Senators can give the “doormats” a little extra backbone next time to stand up to Pelosi and her party.
