GOP Wins in City With 85% Latino Population

( – For years, the Left has touted itself as the defenders of immigrants and the dream of coming to America to make a new life for oneself. With this, Democrats tried to secure the Latino vote across the nation. Yet, a small Texas town where 85% of residents are Hispanic just elected a Republican mayor, showing there may be a new attitude among Latinos sprouting across our nation.

On Saturday, June 5, Javier Villalobos, an attorney and the former chair of the Hidalgo County GOP, was elected as mayor of McAllen, Texas. He bested his competitor Veronica Whitacre by a few hundred votes.

Newsmax host Steve Cortes shared the exciting news:

Hidalgo County, where McAllen is located, went blue in the 2020 presidential election by 17 points. Just 4 years prior, the county voted for Hillary Clinton by over 40 points. But, Latino communities have seen their homes ravaged by illegal immigrants and smugglers since President Joe Biden took office in January, and many are now disillusioned with the Democrat party. It seems this latest election shows us the county may be trending right as GOP support grows among the Hispanic population.
