Hackers Are Sending Customers Fake Shipping Forms to Trick Them Into Revealing Personal Info

(ConservativeInsider.org) – Shipping delays are cropping up all around the country, in part due to more holiday packages being sent this year and COVID-19 precautions slowing down processing at facilities. But, scammers have taken this opportunity to take advantage of consumers. They’re sending fake forms to steal personal information or launch malware.

Hackers are sending fake messages that appear to come from companies like FedEx, UPS, and Amazon in hopes that customers will take the bait. The messages are up 440% from October to November this year.

The notifications may say the package could not be delivered or they require additional delivery instructions. In turn, customers click the email link and enter personal info that hackers steal — or, the link will install malware on the computer.

To avoid this, if you have a shipping question, use your web browser to go directly to the site you purchased the item from or sent the package with to track the package. Collinsville Building & Loan shares more on how to be safe this holiday season:

By protecting your digital sphere, you’ll be able to protect your identity and hard-earned money from hackers hoping to manipulate you. With everything else 2020 has brought, a stolen identity is the last thing anyone needs.
