House Republican Leader: FBI Is Trying to Cover up for Eric Swalwell

( – House Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) recently made headlines as reports of his relationship with alleged Chinese spy Christine Fang went public. Many top Democrats flocked to defend the congressman, but other lawmakers demanded answers. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (D-CA) just confirmed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has postponed two meetings with him over Swalwell’s likely ties to China.

On Wednesday, December 16, McCarthy tweeted the following:

Thankfully, our GOP leaders are fighting to understand just what Swalwell’s relationship entailed, but they’re getting blocked for an unknown reason by the FBI.

This comes just days after some House Republicans wrote a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) asking her to take Swalwell off of the House Intelligence Committee. The letter, signed by Representative Jim Banks (R-IN), House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), and others, calls Swalwell’s dealings “unacceptable and dangerous” and asks he be removed “for the sake of national security.”

It appears the FBI is hesitant to reveal any information they have on Swalwell while Democrats continue to say his lengthy relationship with an alleged Chinese spy is nothing to worry about. But, most Americans can see past this charade and must continue to push for answers in order to keep our nation safe.
