(ConservativeInsider.org) – For over a year, most senior citizens have had to severely limit visits with other people as the COVID-19 pandemic drags on, but many people in this vulnerable group have been waiting for more than just an unmasked meet-up with friends. Although Joe Biden’s stimulus bill was signed almost a month ago, many senior citizens were still waiting for their stimulus checks — until now.
On Wednesday, April 7, the Treasury Department announced that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) sent 25 million additional checks to Americans on Social Security and who are Railroad Retirement Board beneficiaries. In total, the IRS has now provided approximately $372 billion under the latest relief bill.
PBS’ White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor shared the good news on Twitter:

The slow timeline for these payments was partly due to a weeks-long delay by the Social Security Administration as they struggled to provide the IRS with the appropriate income information of their beneficiaries. Additionally, many of the recipients did not file tax returns for various reasons, making it more difficult to track. But, thankfully, for millions of our most vulnerable Americans, a little bit of relief is now on its way.
