IRS Sends Out New Batch of Checks to Americans

( – While the end of the coronavirus pandemic seems to be on the horizon, many families are still feeling the effects of the shutdowns and economic turmoil. Some Americans are still waiting on their $1,400 stimulus checks allocated to them under Biden’s American Rescue Plan. Thankfully, though, for many recent tax filers, those checks are now in the mail.

On Wednesday, May 26, the US Treasury Department announced that the latest batch of stimulus checks was sent out to bring the grand total distributed thus far to nearly $391 billion. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) directly deposited over 900,000 payments while the rest were sent by mail based on 2020 tax returns.

The Treasury Department shared the update on Twitter:

Single Americans earning less than $80,000 or joint filers earning less than $160,000 are eligible to receive the $1,400 payment. To check the status of your check, visit the IRS Get My Payment site. While this monetary boost has been helpful for many, our nation will hopefully not need any more relief as our economy makes its comeback.
