(ConservativeInsider.org) – It’s no secret that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) commits a variety of atrocities against Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang, China every day. Many brands sold in the US profit from slave labor in that region. However, a recent report unveiled that US climate envoy John Kerry and his family are also profiting off this forced labor.
On Thursday, October 14, Washington Free Beacon writer Alana Goodman detailed how Kerry and his wife own at least a $1-million stake in Hillhouse China Value Fund L.P. This investment group is a “top shareholder” in China’s YITU Technology company. However, in 2019, then-President Donald Trump blacklisted the YITU surveillance company for its involvement with the repression and detention of Uyghurs.
Through this association, it’s unlikely Kerry can hold climate talks with China in good faith. It also brings to light just why he’s likely currently opposing Senator Marco Rubio’s (R-TX) Uyghur Forced Labor Act, which would prohibit companies from importing goods produced by slave labor to the US.
Rubio shared his assessment of the situation on Twitter:
If John Kerry has more than $1 million invested in a Chinese fund linked to repression and mass detention of Uyghurs it explains why he is against my Uyghur Forced Labor Act and President Biden should fire him https://t.co/JBbdgfSwpW

Kerry’s opposition to Rubio’s bill extends to President Joe Biden, who has stayed silent about the proposed bill, despite it being an obvious win for human rights and social justice, something the president’s party supports — in theory. Perhaps it’s time for Kerry to sell off his shares in this company now or leave the administration for good over this obvious conflict of interest.
