(ConservativeInsider.org) – As the holiday season approaches, governors across the United States restrict gathering sizes and discourage loved ones from sharing a meal together to prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany warns that these orders could be destroying our free and open society.
On Wednesday, November 18, McEnany emphasized how Americans — not the government — must be responsible for the choices they make during an interview on Fox and Friends. Journalist Aaron Rupar shares her full statement, albeit with his own bias attached:

McEnany emphasized that the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) published guidelines were “very good considerations.” However, she warned that jail time for those who attend gatherings larger than their state’s limit is “Orwellian,” referring to the dystopian society portrayed in George Orwell’s book 1984.
Reporter Erin Ross shared the new rules citizens in Oregon must follow:
Yesterday, new restrictions went into place in 9 counties across Oregon. They limit the size of in-person gatherings to 6, and lower the capacity cap at bars and restaurants to 50.

While Americans should be cautious of contracting and spreading coronavirus, many families have been waiting for months to see their loved ones. So, while it’s important to make responsible choices about our health, it is our right, — not the government’s — to determine how and when we see our friends and family.
