Liz Cheney Challenger Brings in $1 Million in Fight to Replace Her

(ConservativeInsider.org) – Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) infuriated Republicans last year when she went after former President Donald Trump. She was the third most powerful member of the GOP in the House, but ignored her party and voted to impeach the 45th POTUS. Then, she attacked him for months after he was acquitted. Eventually, Republicans stripped her leadership position, the Wyoming GOP censured her, and Trump vowed to replace her. It looks like that might actually happen.

According to reports, congressional candidate Harriet Hageman has brought in nearly $1 million to fight for Cheney’s seat. Trump endorsed the Republican for the Wyoming seat last year, calling Cheney a “warmonger and disloyal” member of the party. From September through December, 2021, Hageman raised about $745,000. Since the beginning of 2022, she has fundraised another $250,000.

The fundraising comes as a straw poll shows her beating Cheney handily.

In late January, the Wyoming Republican State Central Committee held a secret ballot. Party insiders chose Hageman 59 to 6 when she was up against Cheney. After the vote, the challenger told the Star-Tribune that she believes the poll was “a good sign.”

The Republican primary in Wyoming is set for August 16, and it’s not looking good for Cheney.
