Fewer Than 2% of New Voters in Florida Are Democrats

(ConservativeInsider.org) – COVID-19 brought out the true colors of many politicians, leading many states to undergo intense lockdowns, testing procedures, and school closures that lasted months. This, in addition to the new ability to work remotely, allowed many people to move to somewhere new in 2020 and 2021 — and a lot moved to Florida. However, an assessment of new voters in the state shows that very few Democrats decided to call the Sunshine State home.

According to Florida records, there are only 17,197 new Democrats registered to vote in the southernmost state in the continental United States as of July 25. Overall, though, there are 1,037,685 new voters since the state’s governor, Ron DeSantis (R) won the 2018 election. This means Democrats account for under 2% of newly registered voters in the state.

On the flip side, there are 509,420 new Republicans, bringing the states’ total tally to 5,191,018 people who support the GOP. Democrats have not yet broken 5 million registered voters.

Christian Ziegler, Vice Chairman of the Florida GOP, told Florida Voice News it is DeSantis who is “delivering on the important issues” like freedom, limited government, and police support, which is “resonating” with voters across the state. This leaves Florida Democrats with little platform or simply declaring they are against whatever DeSantis supports.

This bodes well for DeSantis as he seeks to continue leading his state. Although, it also makes people question where these half a million GOP voters came from and if their states will feel the effects of their absence.
