Mitt Romney Claims the Feds Misled Americans on COVID-19 Funds

Mitt Romney Reports A SCHEME – Says The Feds Were Behind It!

( – The US government spent billions of dollars fighting COVID-19 and trying to minimize the economic turmoil that occurred after pandemic lockdowns. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle had to work on the bills to fund initiatives like testing, vaccines, and treatments for the virus. However, Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) is now calling out federal authorities for misleading Americans on the amount of funding theoretically needed.

On Thursday, June 16, Romney spoke at a Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee hearing, during which time he spoke with Dawn O’Connell, the Health and Human Services (HHS) Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response. The Utah senator highlighted that the federal government repeatedly said it did not have the money to continue purchasing and providing monoclonal antibody treatments and tests without additional funds.

With that knowledge, Romney had been rallying his party to approve another spending bill. However, on June 8, the federal government announced it moved around nearly $5 billion in funds in order to purchase vaccines and therapeutics. Before the announcement, Romney had no idea reallocating funds was even an option. He called the government’s move “unacceptable,” noting it broke his “trust” and added to destabilizing the relationship between lawmakers and their executive branch.

Assistant Secretary O’Connell did not have an easy answer to Romney’s question. Instead, she noted the move was one “none of us wanted to make,” but agreed the administration has “had to do these things that are unacceptable.”

According to Romney, the White House made “patently false” claims in order to get more American taxpayer dollars. Do you agree with his interpretation?
