Nancy Pelosi Supports Abortion - Her Own Church Speaks Out

( – The belief that God makes every child in his image is central to the Catholic faith, and thus Americans know this branch of Christianity adamantly rebukes abortion. However, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who calls herself a Catholic, has voiced her support for abortion multiple times, most recently when trying to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act. Now, her own church is pushing back.

On Tuesday, September 21, Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone, who oversees the Archdiocese of San Fransisco, where Pelosi represents, released a statement opposing the current Democratic push to legalize abortion. The Catholic leader emphasized that termination is a “heinous evil” that kills “innocent human beings in the womb.” He also reminded Catholic politicians of Pope Francis’ recent words, declaring “abortion is homicide.”

Pro-life news outlet Life News shared more on Twitter:

Archbishop Cordileone wrapped up his statement saying the procedure is “child sacrifice.” He asked Catholics across the nation to pray, and fast, that this law is not passed, and questioned how any Catholic could support such a bill.

While Americans watch the battle between church and state, personal convictions, and politics play out in Congress, many look at their own beliefs to ensure their views line up with their faith. Doing this makes it clear that some politicians have failed to reconcile the two.
