(ConservativeInsider.org) – The last couple of years have been incredibly hard on millions of Americans. The pandemic has taken a toll on people across all demographic lines. One group has consistently rated their mental health as worse than others: Democrats.
On December 3, Gallup released its annual mental health survey. According to its findings, only 28% of respondents identifying as Democrats rated their mental health as “excellent.” That’s down 1% from 2020. By comparison, 42% of Republicans and 33% of Independents believe their mental health is in top form.
Only 34% of Americans rated their mental health as “excellent,” that’s down from 43% in 2019 before the pandemic took hold.
Americans’ “excellent” mental health rating remains at a 21-year low amid the COVID-19 pandemic, holding at 34% after dropping to that level a year ago. https://t.co/ySpzj2v6wy

People who attend religious services every week fared better than those who don’t. Only 29% of people who didn’t attend church rated their mental health as “excellent” compared to 44% of respondents who attend weekly. However, the weekly churchgoers’ mental health rating did drop from 46% in 2020. Americans over age 55 seem to be in a better position as well; 38% say they’re in “excellent” shape. Unfortunately, that’s a nearly 10-point drop from the pre-pandemic rating of 47%.
The poll shows that even though Democrats are faring worse, it doesn’t matter what subgroup a person belongs to; the pandemic is taking a toll on everyone.
