New Poll Shows Democrats Less Likely to Be Friends With People With Opposing Views

(ConservativeInsider.org) – Democrats often describe both themselves and their politics as “open-minded” and “tolerant.” However, a new poll shows that left-leaning Americans may not be so willing to get along with people whose views differ from their own.

On Wednesday, December 8, Axios and Generation Lab published their findings from a joint poll where they spoke with 850 college students around the nation from November 18-22. The study has a margin of error of 3.4% and gives a clear picture of the younger generation’s feelings towards each other.

The results show that Democrats are much more likely to avoid people who voted differently than them in the 2020 presidential election. Specifically, 71% of Democrats would not go on a date with a Republican, while only 31% of Republicans said the same thing. In addition, 30% of Democrats said they wouldn’t work for someone with opposing political views, while only 7% of Republicans echoed that sentiment.

Digital Director of the Arsenal Media Group Logan Hall shared more of the data on Twitter:

The exclusivity from Democrats seeped into other aspects of daily life, like where they would shop and who they allow to be their friend. The Democratic party insists it values acceptance, tolerance, and progress, yet it seems many of its younger members have failed to embrace those principles in their normal routines.
