(ConservativeInsider.org) – As California continues its draconian lockdown measures, residents and companies are leaving the state left and right, sick of the high unemployment rates and taxes. The pressure to comply with overreaching government mandates got so bad that Florida officials actually reached out to the iconic California burger chain In-N-Out to invite them to move their operations to the east coast.
In recent weeks, governments in California’s Bay Area began requiring restaurants to screen customers for COVID-19 if they wished to dine indoors. However, multiple In-N-Out restaurants refused to ask diners for proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test. Startup incubator and entrepreneur Peter Phan shared the words of In-N-Out’s Chief Legal and Business Officer, Arnie Wensinger, on the subject:
I love @innoutburger even more "“It is unreasonable, invasive, and unsafe to force our restaurant associates to segregate customers into those who may be served and those who may not, whether based on the documentation they carry, or any other reason.”" https://t.co/lWuWBuxb9Y

Some restaurants closed or received fines for their decision not to comply with the local mandates. In response to this intense crackdown on In-N-Out, Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, Jimmy Patronis, invited the chain to move to Florida, where small businesses often thrive due to low taxes and a lower unemployment rate.
If the burger chain chose to leave California, it would join the growing ranks of companies fleeing the state, including Elon Musk’s Tesla. In-N-Out has yet to comment on whether it’ll take Florida up on the move, but it seems likely if California continues to restrict the freedoms of small businesses in its state.
