(ConservativeInsider.org) – Weeks after Russian troops began their invasion of Ukraine, the morale amongst many of the soldiers seems to be running low. It turns out many of those fighting in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s army believed they would be liberating the Ukrainian people. Yet, they have instead found fierce resistance, and many have lost their lives. Based on this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has offered Russia’s fighters the opportunity to surrender.
On Tuesday, March 15, President Zelenskyy posted a video online, appealing to Russian forces. He spoke to them directly, stating if they surrender, Ukraine “will treat you the way people are supposed to be treated – as people, decently.” He highlighted how he is giving them “a chance to live.”
Newsweek shared more about Zelenskyy’s compelling address:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky used a televised address on Monday from his office to make a direct appeal to Russian soldiers to surrender, telling them, "I know that you want to survive."

This proposition comes as peace talks between the two countries have progressed little. Russia is demanding a complete demilitarization of Ukraine and its promise it will never join a bloc, such as NATO. Additionally, Russia wants Ukraine to recognize Crimea as Russian territory and Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states. Understandably, Ukraine will not bow to those demands. So, for now, these two nations will continue their war until one gives up the fight.
