US Lawmaker Says ATF Pushing Towards Federal Gun Registry

( – The Second Amendment is likely one of the most beloved rights in the United States, allowing law-abiding Americans to keep and bear firearms. However, the Biden administration is getting creative with new ways to crack down on this freedom of gun ownership, including creating a national gun registry. Dozens of Republicans are raising awareness of this backdoor deal in order to stop it in its tracks.

On Monday, November 22, 52 House Republicans led by Representative Michael Cloud (R-TX) sent a letter to the acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) sharing their concern the current “administration is leveraging its power in a way to establish a federal gun registry.”

The letter refers to a recent proposal that would end the current rule that forces federal firearms licensees to keep gun sale records for 20 years. When gun shops close down, they have to provide these records to the ATF. If the Biden administration ends this rule, the ATF would slowly accumulate every single American gun owner’s record, thus creating a gun registry. Cloud shared his understandable concern about this on Twitter:

Cloud also emphasized in a recent statement that a federal firearm registry is “explicitly banned by law” and to ignore this is a clear infringement on 2A freedoms in this nation. Hopefully, Cloud is able to gather more allies in his battle to raise awareness and fight this unconstitutional proposal.
