Over 300,000 Air Fryers Sold at Major Retailers Recalled

(ConservativeInsider.org) – More than 300,000 PowerXL air fryers have been recalled following an announcement by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on December 14th. The affected air fryers were sold at major retailers like Target, Kohl’s, and Walmart and cost anywhere from $60 to $190.

The manufacturer, Empower Brands, has issued a recall for two different models of their PowerXL dual-basket air fryer. According to Empower Brands, they have received dozens of reports of their air fryers breaking when a consumer tries to use them, and three of those reports cited burns to the user. In an abundance of caution, the manufacturer is recalling the potentially affected models. The models being recalled are DUAF-005 and DUAF-10, both PowerXL Dual-Basket Air Fryers, and were sold between August 2021 and October 2023, in both black and cinnamon colors.

Just a week before the PowerXL air fryers were recalled, the U.S. CPSC announced a recall for 1.75 million Steamfast Home & Away Travel Steam Irons, also over an increased risk of burns to the consumer. According to the manufacturer of the irons, Vornado Air LLC, the power cord of the affected irons can easily get damaged and run the risk of overheating, which could potentially cause burns to the user or start a fire. Vornado Air, which is headquartered in Andover, Kansas, has had nearly 75 incidents reported, along with 18 additional reports of the cord for the iron sparking, smoking, overheating, or catching fire. They have additionally received two reports of minor shocks, according to the CPSC. The recalled irons were available for purchase at Walmart, Amazon.com, and Bed Bath and Beyond, as well as on their websites, Steamfast.com and Vornado.com.
