Biden Earns Dubious Distinction as Most Unpopular President

(ConservativeInsider.org) – While President Joe Biden has broken several records during his presidency, including oldest president inaugurated and oldest president overall, he probably did not expect his latest record: least popular president in modern history.

According to a new survey by Gallup Polls released on April 24th, President Joe Biden is the most unpopular president within the last 70 years, when they started the regular survey on presidential popularity. The data indicates that Biden has a 38.7% approval rating for the first part of this year.

That score is lower than former President George H.W. Bush during the same period of his only term as president. The senior Bush had the lowest approval ratings of any president after World War II of 41.8%. At this point during former President Donald Trump’s first term, he had an approval rating of 46.8%, nearly ten points higher than Biden’s current approval rating.

Though Biden held a 50% approval rating during his first six months in office, it dropped significantly after that and has been hovering around 40% since then. However, after the war in Gaza began and the surge of illegal immigration within the last six months, Biden’s approval rating has dropped even lower. Rising inflation levels, funding for unpopular foreign wars, and Biden’s clearly declining cognitive performance are likely affecting his approval ratings as well.

Unsurprisingly, Democrats have a stronger approval rating of Biden than independents or Republicans. While 65% of Democrats approve of Biden’s work, only 35% of independents and 6% of Republicans approve of the sitting president.

Within recent history, almost every president who has won a second term in office has had at least a 50% approval rating. The exception is former President Barack Obama, who had a 46% approval rating six months before the election. However, despite these numbers, the upcoming election is set to be a close race. According to an aggregate of national polls performed by RealClearPolitics, Trump only leads Biden by 0.3%.
