Crime scene, murder, investigation, bloody trail on asphalt, ongoing investigation, camera expert evidence of murder

(ConservativeInsider.org) – A 37-year-old man from El Salvador who entered the United States illegally was arrested on charges of killing two fast food employees in Irving, Texas on Wednesday, June 26.

According to the Irving Police Department, the alleged shooter’s name is Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta. A spokesperson for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that they have an immigration detainer, also known as an ICE hold, on Mendoza Argueta, which means he is not a legal citizen. Mendoza Argueta, however, remains in police custody while he waits for his arraignment.

The attack, which occurred at a Chick-fil-A in Irving, was described as a “targeted attack” by authorities due to the fact that his wife worked at the restaurant and witnessed the attack. The suspect’s wife identified her husband as the shooter “with certainty” and helped police to track him down after he fled the scene of the crime.

The shooting occurred around 3:40 PM on June 26 and Mendoza Argueta was arrested the following day around 2:50 AM. It is unclear what led Mendoza Argueta to target his wife’s coworkers, but authorities stated that they have enough evidence to prove that the murders were pre-meditated.

Authorities identified the victims as Patricia Portillo, a 49-year-old grandmother, and Brayan Godoy, a 31-year-old father of four. Godoy’s wife spoke to the media, stating that her husband moved to Texas from Guatemala in order to support his family back home, often working multiple jobs to do so.

Chick-fil-A shared their condolences for the loss of their team members and thanked the local police department for their compassion as they investigated the double homicide.

Mendoza Argueta’s crimes are just another in a long list of crimes committed by people who have crossed the border illegally since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021. Nearly 2 million migrants have entered the U.S. during Biden’s tenure, with over 100,000 people entering the country in June of this year.
