(ConservativeInsider.org) – Illegal Israeli settlers continue to capture important Palestinian agricultural land in parts of the West Bank by setting the Palestinian crops on fire in the presence of the Israeli military, which appears to support the expansion of illegal settlements.
Some of these settlers are constructing a road in the village of Husan, located west of the city of Bethlehem in the West Bank, on land that was originally controlled by Palestinian families with agricultural backgrounds.
According to Rami Hamamreh, the director of the Husan village council, the illegal Israeli settlers have been killing local Palestinian farmers since 2017.
A separate group of illegal settlers invaded another village in the West Bank, Dhahr Al-Abed, located on the outskirts of the city of Jenin, and set a farmhouse on fire.
Tareq Amarna, the head of the Dhahr Al-Abed village council, stated that settlers always try to expand their illegal settlements and capture lands for which Palestinians have ownership documents.
International law bans Israel from establishing new settlements in the West Bank, and any attempts to do so violate the Fourth Geneva Convention. These illegal settlements are the backbone of the modern-day Israel-Palestine conflict and result in the displacement of the Palestinian population, which eventually results in social unrest.
Despite facing global criticism over the illegal settlements, the Israeli government continues to support them, which undermines the possibility of a two-state solution, which seems to be the only way out of this long-standing conflict.
Apart from the West Bank, Israeli forces also face criticism for destroying nearly 57% of the agricultural land in Gaza, which has majorly been destroyed in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war that started after October 7.
Alongside global scrutiny, Israeli forces have also attracted backlash for burning crops from its own media outlets, which accuse the Israeli military of engaging in “farm warfare” on Palestinian lands and ultimately destroying the livelihood of many families.
Agricultural products remain one of the primary exports of Palestine, where other industries have struggled to survive due to political unrest.
