(ConservativeInsider.org) – The FBI identified Trump’s shooter as a 20-year-old man, Thomas Matthew Crooks, and is investigating the possibility of domestic terrorism behind the assassination attempt that shook the nation to its core.
After the attack, the FBI found explosive devices in the suspect’s car and raided his residence to discover more “suspicious devices” that were neutralized by bomb technicians. According to the bureau, initial investigations suggest that Crook acted alone, but the agency has not ruled out the involvement of co-conspirators.
As the FBI continues its investigation, it has interviewed over 100 people, including eye witnesses, law enforcement officials and rallygoers, to reach some conclusions. Crook’s electronic devices, including mobile phones and a laptop, are also under investigation in the FBI’s laboratory as the bureau tries to find the motive of the shooter.
The FBI also revealed that the shooter was unknown to the bureau before the incident due to no prior criminal history and acquired the AR-style 556 rifle legally that he used to target the former president.
The incident also placed the Secret Service and the local law enforcement at odds as both entities blamed each other for the security lapses.
The Secret Service, which is officially responsible for protecting former presidents and political leaders, is particularly facing the heat after the attack. Law enforcement insiders are worried about how an adult man carrying a rifle managed to climb the elevated structure, crawl to his desired location and aim and shoot at the former president despite the presence of Secret Service snipers on a separate elevated building.
Meanwhile, bipartisan lawmakers have condemned the attack. President Joe Biden emphasized the necessity of lowering the political temperature after the attack as he faced backlash from conservative circles for his fear-mongering against Trump and labeling him as a threat to the United States. Many conservatives believe that this rhetoric may have influenced the shooter, who had also donated to liberal causes previously.
