Chiropractor’s Rampage: Wife, Three Kids Fatally Stabbed

(ConservativeInsider.org) – A peaceful Sunday morning in Manoa, Honolulu, was suddenly turned into a scene of horrific tragedy. Local chiropractor, 46-year-old Paris Oda, stabbed his wife, Naoko Oda, 48, and their three children – a 17-year-old daughter, a 12-year-old son, and a 10-year-old daughter – before taking his own life.

The horrific incident became the second-deadliest mass killing in Honolulu’s history, according to Honolulu Police Chief Joe Logan.

Lieutenant Deena Thoemmes of the Honolulu Police Department’s homicide squad revealed that officers responded to a 911 call about a domestic dispute at the Oda residence. However, upon arrival, no answer came from the house, prompting officers to leave.

Roughly 30 minutes later, after a second call, police returned and forced entry into the home. There, they found a nightmarish scene – the bodies of all five family members. A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered.

During a press conference, Lieutenant Thoemmes stated that evidence suggests the adult male killed his wife and children with the knife.

While a motive for the killings remains unclear, police confirmed no prior reports of domestic violence at the Oda residence. Neighbors described the family as friendly and festive, expressing shock at the sudden tragedy.

One Neighbor, Hiro Izumo, told local news outlet KITV that the family seemed typical and upbeat, often decorating their house for holidays.

Aime Wakai, another neighbor, voiced the community’s unease. Wakai emphasized the rarity of crime in the area, highlighting its usual tranquility.

The tragedy’s impact extends beyond the immediate neighborhood. Manoa Elementary School, where the younger Oda children likely attended, activated a crisis intervention team to support students and staff. Similarly, Iolani School, a private college preparatory school, will hold gatherings for students, faculty, and staff and offer counseling services throughout the week.

Chief Logan, clearly affected by the situation, addressed the impact on first responders, expressing empathy for their experiences and acknowledging the lasting effects on their mental well-being. He emphasized the incident would have a profound and enduring impact on the officers involved, similar to the effects it would have on any law enforcement officer.
