(ConservativeInsider.org) – On Sunday, July 21st, President Joe Biden announced that he was suspending his re-election campaign and endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris to take over the reins as the Democratic nominee.
Many were shocked, as Biden had been adamantly saying that he was planning to remain in the race for weeks prior, despite rumors that he would be dropping out. Many others, however, had seen the writing on the wall for Biden and had been banking on him dropping out. What changed that led Biden to end his candidacy?
According to the letter posted to social media while Biden was quarantining with yet another case of COVID-19, Biden stated that though it was his “intention” to run for a second term, he felt it was in the “best interest” of the Democratic party and the country (notice which one came first) that he step down from his candidacy. The President did not go into detail about what caused him to change his mind, a fact that even liberal-leaning media sources like Slate have not failed to point out.
However, reports from those close to Biden have stated that the President is “really pissed off” and felt coerced into his decision by leaders and donors within the Democratic party. Several Democrats and Democratic donors, including actor George Clooney, had publicly called for Biden to drop out of the race in the weeks leading up to his announcement.
Though former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi denies this, someone close to her reported that she had a conversation with Biden the day before he dropped out. While the source did not give specifics of the conversation, many of Pelosi’s allies had publicly spoken of their desire for Biden to end his candidacy.
It should be a warning sign to all that Democrats will turn on their closest allies, no matter how long they have faithfully served the party, as soon as they are no longer politically advantageous to them.
