(ConservativeInsider.org) – A Mexican national who entered the United States illegally and was living in Montgomery County, Texas has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a three-month-old infant.
On April 14th, the three-month-old child was admitted to the hospital with severe injuries. By April 17th, Melvin Jesus Aquino Enriquez, an illegal immigrant, was arrested for causing serious bodily injury to a child in connection with the case. Tragically, the infant was unable to be saved and died on April 21st.
The suspect allegedly lived at the mobile home along with the child, though their relationship is unclear. There were reportedly nine people living at the residence, five of them adults and four of them children, including the now-deceased infant.
Enriquez is being held on $750,000 bond at the Montgomery County Jail, though further charges could be added following the child’s autopsy results. The suspect is also being held on an ICE hold due to his status as an illegal immigrant. According to an ICE spokesperson, Enriquez had already been deported from the US in September 2020. It is unknown when or how he re-entered the country, as he did not have contact with any immigration officers.
Independent but unverified reports indicate that the child suffered 20 rib cage fractures, a broken jaw, two broken arms, two broken legs, as well as a brain bleed.
According to reports from the child’s family members, authorities were called to the child’s residence on April 13, but allegedly, officers did not enter the home to verify that the child was safe. When questioned, Montgomery County Sheriff Rand Henderson said the child’s death was “currently under investigation” and he was not allowed to share any more details about the case.
Though the child died on April 21, the Sheriff’s office did not release any information about the infant’s death until May 2, after independent reporters began asking questions, leading some to speculate that the Sheriff’s upcoming election is a factor in how the child’s case has been handled.
