(ConservativeInsider.org) – On Monday, June 3, former President Donald Trump gave his endorsement to former North Las Vegas mayor John Lee for Nevada’s 4th Congressional District Republican primary race, which takes place on June 11.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Lee as “highly popular” during his time as mayor and stated that if elected, Lee will defend the police and military, lower inflation, invigorate the economy, protect the Second Amendment, and uphold the law. Suggesting that Lee will “never” let the people down, Trump gave his “complete and total endorsement.”
Lee shared his gratitude for Trump’s endorsement on social media, saying he was “honored” by the former President’s endorsement and excited to work with Trump to save this “incredible country.”
Trump’s endorsement is not the only one Lee has earned. The Governor of Nevada, Joe Lombardo, also endorsed Lee, calling him a “proven leader” who he believes will be a “strong voice” in Congress. Lee ran for governor in 2022 but lost to Lombardo in the primary. Lombardo’s endorsement is an important one for Lee, as it shows there is no bad blood between the former competitors.
The other candidates running in the Republican primary for the Congressional seat are former attorney Bruce Frazey and retired Air Force lieutenant colonel David Flippo, who now works as a financial adviser.
Whoever wins the Republican primary will face off against incumbent Democrat Rep. Steven Horsford, who has held the position between 2013 and 2015 and then again from 2019 to the present. Horsford currently serves as the Congressional Black Caucus Chair.
Interestingly, Horsford and Lee were set to face off in the Democratic primary for the 4th Congressional District in 2012 before Lee dropped out shortly before the election. Lee left the Democratic party in 2021 to become a Republican, suggesting that the Nevada Democratic Party was taken over by “socialists.”
The race is expected to be very close, as the 4th Congressional District is a swing district.
