Trump’s Truth Social ‘Follow’ of Ben Carson Analyzed

(ConservativeInsider.org) – Trump followed Dr. Ben Carson on his social media network, Truth Social, on Friday, July 5, leading many to speculate that Carson will be selected as Trump’s Vice President.

Carson worked as a pediatric neurosurgeon and ran for President in the 2016 Republican primaries before being selected by Trump to serve as Housing and Urban Development Secretary during his first term.

On July 6, Trump wished Carson and his wife, Candy, a happy 47th wedding anniversary, calling them both “spectacular people.” Carson has recently campaigned for Trump, including at the Black American Business Leaders Barbershop Roundtable in Atlanta, Georgia at the end of June.

As Trump has remained quiet about his Vice President selection, rumors on his selection have swirled for weeks. Other potential candidates include Ohio Senator JD Vance, Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, and Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas. Carson is the only person on the short list who is followed by Trump on Truth Social, but several of the candidates do not have Truth Social accounts.

Some believe Carson’s age at 72 makes him a less likely candidate, especially as many voters have concerns about President Joe Biden’s age at 81. However, Carson’s background as a black Christian doctor from Detroit might help increase Trump’s chances with black voters, although Trump’s support among minorities has been increasing as of late.

When asked if he would consider becoming Trump’s Vice President, Carson said he would “prayerfully consider it.” The former neurosurgeon praised Trump recently, saying Trump has the ability to reach people without “filter or political correctness.”

Trump is expected to make his selection announcement either shortly before or during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, which will occur July 15-18. Trump’s campaign has sent out invitations to events during the Convention, suggesting that the Vice President nominee will be in attendance.
