West Wing’ Creator Suggests Romney Run In Biden’s Place

(ConservativeInsider.org) – Aaron Sorkin, the creator of the presidential drama series The West Wing, suggested Democrats nominate the moderate anti-Trump conservative Senator Mitt Romney to compete against former President Donald Trump in the November elections.

Sorkin’s op-ed just came hours before Biden eventually announced to drop out of the presidential race. Right after Biden’s withdrawal, Sorkin took his suggestion back and immediately endorsed Kamala Harris for the White House.

When Biden was still in the race, Sorkin compared Biden with the fictional president in the West Wing, President Bartlet, who concealed his illness from the American public. According to Sorkin, Bartlet should have told the public about his medical conditions, apparently referring to Biden’s attempts to hide his degenerative mental abilities from the people.

The author made a hypothetical scenario and asked what would have been the approach of President Bartlet had his rival been suffering from severe mental disorders and violated the law while also supporting white supremacy. He was apparently slamming Trump for possessing all these characteristics and asking Biden to allow a candidate who could really give tough competition to the former president.

He went on to say that Romney’s presence on the top of the Democratic presidential ticket would also allow Democrats to win Nikki Haley’s voters, although he later acknowledged that Haley “disqualified herself” after supporting a person who tried to overthrow the U.S. government.

Sorkin argued that Romney’s Democratic candidacy would simplify the White House race, as voters would only need to decide whether they are for or against Trump. Someone like Romney would attract every anti-Trump voter across America, which would keep Trump out of power, Sorkin added.

Sorkin’s column only suggested how some leftists are extremely desperate to stop Trump’s possible return to the White House next year. He took his words “all back” after Biden’s departure from the White House run and was quick to throw his weight behind Kamala Harris, who is the most likely nominee of the Democratic party in the 2024 elections.
