WWII Vet Goes Viral For Bold RNC Speech

(ConservativeInsider.org) – A variety of politicians, activists, and everyday Americans spoke at the Republican National Convention held from July 14th through the 18th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but one person stood out from the rest of the crowd: 98-year-old World War II veteran, Sergeant William Pekrul. Despite not being a famous name, Pekrul had the crowd on their feet, chanting “USA!” in support of his speech and the country we all love.

Pekrul, a Milwaukee native, enlisted in the Army in December 1943, the day after his 18th birthday. He joined the 28th Infantry during the invasion of Normandy on D-Day, one of the most critical battles of WWII. He served in Belgium after D-Day, saving the life of his platoon leader, which earned him a Silver Star. Pekrul also participated in the Battle of the Bulge, which was one of the last major battles on the Western Front.

Though he spent over a month in an English hospital, he joined up with the 75th Infantry after his recovery and fought until the Allies won the war. Pekrul spoke about how he thanked God and kissed the ground when he returned to the U.S. after the war.

Pekrul was discharged after the war in 1946 and met his wife within one week of returning home. As of 2024, they have been married for 76 years and raised 11 children together.

During his speech, Pekrul laid into the Biden administration for America’s failures worldwide since Biden took office, including the shameful retreat from Afghanistan, the growing threat of terrorism in the Middle East, and the way Biden has allowed illegal immigrants to “overrun” the southern border. He also stated that while America is an idea, it’s also our home, which means we need to protect it because he believes America is “still worth fighting for.”

One of Pekrul’s boldest statements was that if Trump wins the election in November, he would re-enlist to protect his country once again.
