Congressman Bowman’s 9/11 Conspiracy Theories Blogs Resurface

(ConservativeInsider.org) – News website The Daily Beast uncovered writings from Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) wherein he suggested that the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001 were an inside job by the U.S. government.

The posts were written on a personal blog run by Bowman during his time as a middle school principal, when he was in his mid-30s. The online journal was hosted at Relentless-Strongback.Blogspot.com, which was active until 2014. Bowman deleted all his posts on the blog by early 2016, but some of them were captured by online archival websites, which is how The Daily Beast was able to find them.

One of his posts, titled “Recapitulate,” suggested that Building 7 of the World Trade Center, which was not hit by any planes, collapsed due to the result of controlled demolitions. According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology the collapse of Building 7 was due to a fire caused by debris from the Twin Towers. Bowman added at the end of the post that readers should watch “Zeitgeist” and “Loose Change,” both known as “truther” documentaries that allege that the US was behind the 9/11 attacks.

The post also claimed that America went to war in Afghanistan because Osama Bin Laden, who openly took credit for the attacks, was Afghani. However, Bin Laden was born and raised in Saudi Arabia and did not hold Afghan citizenship at any point in his life, though he did live in the country at some points in his life. He was expelled from Saudi Arabia and stripped of his citizenship in the early 1990s.

When asked for comment on his old writings, Bowman said they were written to “process [his] thoughts” while he was considering attempting a doctoral degree and were not read by many people at the time. He expressed regret for making such posts and said his work in Congress over the last three years proves that he is against misinformation and “harmful conspiracy theories,” such as those from “MAGA extremists.”
