(ConservativeInsider.org) – Almost 40 senior Wall Street executives, including many people of color, slammed famous hedge fund manager Bill Ackman over his anti-DEI remarks in a tense closed-door meeting in Beverly Hills.
Ackman has previously called Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives a racist movement. However, Ackman’s criticism of these initiatives did not sit well with Wall Street executives, who thought that these remarks were against the progressive business agenda and opposed the progress of women and people of color.
The panelists who were part of the invite-only gathering discussed Ackman’s confrontational DEI views for almost an hour. They asked the billionaire investor to reconsider his stance, as not doing so would be detrimental for the future of the ongoing diversity programs across the United States.
After this tense meeting, Ackman urged everyone to read his other statements about DEI initiatives as they would provide a reasonable outlook on his complete position on this issue.
Ackman has previously called DEI a political advocacy that propagates the interests of a specific group of people. He has also praised former Presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy for his comments that the inclusion agenda promotes racism.
Inculcating equity and inclusion practices in business has attracted criticism from famous business tycoons in recent times. Elon Musk has also slammed Disney’s DEI initiates as “sexist” and “racist.”
One of the major drawbacks of DEI, according to Ackman, is that it forces people to think that they are oppressed by other community members.
However, business executives told Ackman that his views suggest that he does not understand the civil rights movement comprehensively.
The investment magnate also lambasted the former president of Harvard University, Claudine Gay, who came into the spotlight for her subpar efforts to curb antisemitism. He stated that he always thought that diversity is an important factor in any organization’s success, adding that the current form of DEI does not promote diversity but only contributes to propagating “reverse racism” against white people.
