DHS Allowed 160,000 ‘Inadmissible’ Aliens to Land in Florida

(ConservativeInsider.org) – More light is being shed on a secretive and controversial Department of Homeland Security program that has flown hundreds of thousands of immigrants into the United States over the last two years.

The Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan (CHNV) program allows for the mass import and parole of immigrants from those nations, claiming that as long as they had not previously entered the US illegally, were able to claim an American sponsor, and passed a background check, they were eligible for the program. It was started in October 2022 for Venezuelans but expanded to include nationals from the other three nations at the beginning of 2023. Under the program, the migrants would be given a two-year authorization for their stay in the US as well as work permits.

According to information from the Department of Homeland Security, over 400,000 nationals from CHNV nations have entered the US as of February 2024. The DHS reports indicate that of the immigrants who entered the country via the CHNV program between January and August 2023, the vast majority of them now live in Florida, with over 90,000 residing in Miami, over 60,000 in Fort Lauderdale, over 6,000 in Orlando, and an additional 3,000 in Tampa. As even more immigrants have entered the country since August 2023, the numbers are assuredly higher at this point, but more recent data from DHS is currently unavailable.

Ironically, reports from the DHS itself states that the Biden administration still considers every migrant who utilizes the program to fly into the US as “inadmissible,” meaning they are still not legally entering the country. The report further adds that though the program allows 30,000 illegal aliens to fly into the US each month, there are an additional 1.6 million people on the waiting list.

Florida, however, has been pushing back against this Biden-approved program. The press secretary for Governor Ron DeSantis recently called the program illegal and an “abuse of constitutional authority,” while also announcing that the state was suing the Biden administration to end it.
