Potential VP Pick Won’t Commit to Certifying Election Results

(ConservativeInsider.org) – While attending an Axios event on Thursday, March 7th, Florida Representative Byron Donalds of Florida and potential vice president choice for President Donald Trump, said if he was selected by Trump, he would potentially decline to certify the 2028 election results.

When asked by Sophia Cai of Axios if would certify election results if he was vice president, Byron stated that as long as election laws were followed, he would certify the election results, but if things were as they stood during the 2020 election, he would not certify the election results. He emphasized that the responsibility of elected officials is to “uphold the law despite popular opinion.” He said there was evidence that proper procedures around voting were not followed in 2020, so he would not have done what then-Vice President Mike Pence did, which was to certify the election results.

Byron has been floated as a potential Vice President selection for likely Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump, along with former Republican candidate and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, as well as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who dropped out of the race in late January.

Donalds made headlines after Biden’s State of the Union speech, calling the president’s speech, and specifically his comments about the Supreme Court, “disgusting.” In an interview on “Sunday Morning Futures” on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo, he suggested that the left, including Biden, talks about respecting American institutions like the Supreme Court until they “don’t get their way,” such as with the recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Donalds went on to add that the speech was a “campaign speech” that was more partisan than unifying. The Florida Representative suggested Biden’s State of the Union address was an attempt from the president to “prove himself” as capable after years of questions about Biden’s mental state and capabilities. He added that the left “should have serious questions” about Biden’s capabilities.
